Easyfit have just setup a new bike workshop. They have hired a technician to do bike servicing who has spent 20 years working on BMWs.

They also do tyres. Prices aren't mega cheap but they aren't too bad either. The nice thing is that they can do ride in ride out, and for some of us it saves a slog into Bristol.

Tourance front £76, rear £93.

TKC80 front £69, rear £74.

Ride-in ride-out add £5/wheel.

Nice one Mike, the TKC's aren't too badly priced!
After talking to him he might start stocking TKC80 - or at least one pair. In the short term it might be worth calling in advance to make sure he has the tyres in.

b.t.w. Easyfit are really easy to find. In the Winterstoke road one way system that runs between Halfords and Focus, Easyfit are next to the Vauxhall garage. They are the blue building with the effing big Formula 1 car hung in the window.

Their Tourance prices are almost exactly the same as Micheldever Tyres (near Basingstoke & Andover) who are generally reckoned to be the cheapest round these parts. Easyfit certainly sound very competitive.

The story gets better. Ralphy has negotiated a discount for GS Club members so that you can now get the Tourances for £65 front and £79 rear. That is an incredible price.

And thats fitted.:thumb

Ah, b*ll*x why couldn't this have happened three weeks ago? Never mind, there's always next time!

Thanks for the info.

Cheers Mick, but just checking on Ralphy's post, with the 10% locally it's best i go to Easifit.

Protyre is part of the Micheldever Group. I've used the Bristol branch a number of times and found them to be good value and careful with the wheels.

They have a number of depots in the south west.

easi-fit get my vote...

on 4 counts...

Firstly , during the recent 'Tourance drought' the likes of Protyre, Micheldever (both of which I've used previously and been satisfied with) and Easifit were all out of stock (due to the shortfall in production and distribution of the new 'V' rated tyre). However, Easifit were the first to get them in stock!

Secondly, they are a modern, clean well equipped outfit set-up. You can actually sit and relax properly over a coffee and browse at their bike accessories line while you wait (even if it is largely Motrax gear, they also have a range of helmets and off road gear)

Thirdly the guys are genuinely friendly and as Cheesey says Lee the fitter their is a former Bath road mechanic and knows his stuff. (reassuring)

Fourthly they're offering to do a 12K service as per Bm schedule with OE parts and log book stamp for £170 (about £100 less than main dealer)

Tyre prices £174 per pair fitted and balanced (Tourances)

Worth the extra journey in my opinion.:)

Superb tyre repair from these guys. Plugged hole and balanced wheel £18.95. They nursed the alloy and stuck balancing weights on.

Wheel was 80grms out  and average car wheel is 35 grms and I was told that this was a lot for a bike wheel and cause most likely to be the tyre. Bike 3 months old, 2000 miles and NONE off road.

Maybe this will contribute to early final drive failure ;)

(I have been getting vibes at certain low revs at rear end for a week and have been shaking my rear wheel around cos I am neurotic after reading this site. I did not consider checking tyre pressures till today and was down to 1bar and found the culprit- a nail :( )

I wonder why a new wheel on a £10,000 bike would be 80grms out of balance ?????

Just had the 12K sevice done

well happy!

OK the £170 quote was ex vat...so it was £199 all told.

But Lee did a superb job. Everything's been greased, levers, stands etc. Clearances adjusted.

He's picked up a couple a minor faults which I'd overlooked - rear brake light lead had become disconnected beneath the seat, front tyre pressure below normal.

And the best bit he'd cleaned the bike thoroughly and applied the waxoyl type finish product to the black plastics and metal bits. Bike looked fit enough to park in the showroom by the time he'd finished!

All I had to do was entertain myself in Weston-Sur-Mare while I waited.

Never had that kind of attention to detail from a main dealer that's for certain!!

Strongly recommended on tyre and servicing front.

A great bunch of guys who do a top job.:grin

Update

EasyFit no longer do BMW servicing. They do however still supply tyres. They keep TKC, Tourance etc. in stock and offer pretty good prices.

Mike

I need a new front TKC, just rang them as I'm at Portishead on Saturday and thought I'd get the new one on my way but they no longer keep TKC's in stock having had one set for a whole season.

They need at least two clear working days to get them and the price quoted for ride in, ride out is £71.
