My Maw and Paw celebrate their Diamond Wedding tomorrow. 60 years married. It's a long time. They probably both deserve medals :augie :D

Anyhoo, my Dad just phoned me: they received a card this morning from the President of Rheinland Pfalz (the region that they live in which has a population of around 4 million). It had a 50 Euros inside! I remember when I was a kid, my grandparents in Blairgowrie had the same anniversary. They received a telegram fae Her Maj and that was it.

They're ha'en a bit of a Do tomorrow. I wont be there :tears :tears but my folks being my folks sent me money (:rolleyes:) for me and Frau Ronno to go out for a meal on them, so as not to miss out on the celebration. I told him that we didn't need his money to eat out on and that I would be sending it back. Those of you who've met my old man won't be surprised to learn that I was told to feck off (in a heavy accent) :D

I went over for their Golden Wedding in 1999. I'm sitting here still trying to get my heid aroond that being 10 years ago. The time's just flown by.

I'll need to break with tradition and have a wee dram on a school night tomorrow.

How about raising a glass at 20:00 hrs tomorrow Wednesday?

Oh and ye can call Grumpy Drawers:oonyack and get kim tae raise a proper glass! none o that Jager stuff he falls oer lots after that stuff

Good point :thumb2 Shall we say 19:00 hrs (UKGser time) tommorow which is 20:00 hrs in Germany?

I'll make sure I have a large dram in my mitt at that time.

The toast is "Alwin and Nora" (in case anyone thought their names really were Adolf and Eva :D)

I see the thread title has now been changed slightly. The original post was simply to tell you about the 50 Euros. Nice touch by the Mods :beerjug:

I really appreciate this folks. I'm gutted at not being able to get across for the "official party" and the thought of a "GSer dram" for them seems a great idea. :beer:

My folks have met a few of the guys on here and my Dad has been known to enjoy the odd drink :augie I'm sure he'll be delighted to join us at the alloted time :D

I'll be visiting my mate tomorrow night, he's been told to have the glasses ready for the alloted time, 60 years, amazing achievement IMHO....:)

On the Sunday of the Bunkhaus doo I celebrated Mrs Bhuds mum and dad's Golden wedding the first glass was a struggle :augie
