My Maw and Paw celebrate their Diamond Wedding tomorrow. 60 years married. It's a long time.

Ich gratuliere ...:beerjug:

They don't make 'em like they used to, my Oma und Opa managed it a good few years ago too...:rob

19.00 it is then...

Jahowl, 19:00 it is.

I may have to make do with 'raising' a swig of water if I've got a run on at that time, though. The sound of passengers screaming if I have a dram whilst driving really gets on my nerves.....

They're having an all day "drop in" type event in the communal room of the apartments where they live. It's ideal for this sort of thing.

I phoned them at 07.30 this morning (08.30 over there) and they were heading along to the room at that time. It'll be a long day and evening for them. I just hope my Dad doesn't think he has to have a drink with everyone who calls on them. I also wnated to make sure that their land line phone worked in this other room. Thankfully, it does.

About 10 minutes later, my phone rang. I answered it. I could hear my Dad's voice mumbling something about "I cannae get this feckin thing to work. Feck knows..." It was obvious that he'd been pressing buttons on the phone and didn't know he'd called me.

I spent the next 10 minutes listening to him, my Mum, my sister and others discussing table arrangements and stuff. Meanwhile, I can't use my phone :blast I'm shouting down the line to no avail, blowing a high pitched whistle down the line (again to no avail) and wondering how long it will be before they realise that no one has called them and check the phone: all day? I can't think of anyone else to phone (on my mobi) at that time to get them to pop round and sort it.

Eventually, my sister lifts the phone to "use" it and hears a very relieved Frau Ronno on the other end. Just as well that she didn't hear me. My sister doesn't like bad language :augie

This is about the tenth time that my Dad has done this and had my land line tied up. Once for about two hours. Naturally, he thinks it's something that I'm doing wrong at my end...

Old people and modern technology. A dangerous combination :blast

:jes:jes

1900 it is :beerjug: A wee half will be sacrificed in their honour (via ma gullet)

60 years fek that's going well:thumb Congrats to them :bounce1

Just been on the phone. There are still about 20 folk with them. They've just all had a great meal provided by an outside caterer and my dad, who's been limited to drinking wine during the day has now produced a bottle of whisky.

He's going to phone me when there's less noise and I'll tell him about this wee drink. I'm sure he'll be really touched...

:beerjug: :beerjug: :beerjug:

Good point :thumb2 Shall we say 19:00 hrs (UKGser time) tommorow which is 20:00 hrs in Germany?

I'll make sure I have a large dram in my mitt at that time.

The toast is "Alwin and Nora" (in case anyone thought their names really were Adolf and Eva :D)

:beerjug:

Alwin, eh? So he's Welsh then? Explains your accent. I wondered where it originated. :augie

Cheers Alwin and Nora :beerjug:

(A wee bit late on here but I was chugging down the red with supper at seven so was in the correct 'spirit'....)
