Just to add to the BMW insurance review...

I had an accident in OCTOBER last year, even though this is all now sorted, I ams STILL waiting for my £250 insurance excess to be returned to me.

Renewal arrived from bmw (devitts/nig)for £153.49 only 49p more than last year.
Asked girlie on phone prior to renewing if cover still applies with list of modifications/extrs added as per last year---reply----don't know, will check with underwriters and get back to you, watch this space.

Devitt were a shower of shite when I dealt wuth them.

Nothing but delays and obstructions.

Tried eBike online, and got all four bikes insured on the same policy, with all extras listed and covered and at a cost FAR lower than Devitt/BMW could manage.

I've got a Remus 'Y' pipe with a standard can which I did not tell insurance about :nono . I told them about my other mods hugger, autocom, panniers, topbox etc all OK.

Usually when you tell insurance company about mods they don't know what you are talking about. I told my prievious insurance company about a hugger and crash bungs they didn't understand what I was on about and that was a bike only insurance company  Surely they should have an understanding of bikes and accessaries :nenau

If you have made a false declaration to obtain insurance (signed the form and ticked 'No' in the Modifications section) then they can void your insurance entirely.

Mike:)

Only if the false declaration element is relevant to the cause of loss, and only if there is sufficient conditions precedent language on the proposal form

I've just got my insurance through today - they are valuing my '99 1100GS at £7000 and are asking for £492.65. No Garage and living in London (a nice bit of SW17)........ You lot have it lucky! though I must get them to change the valuation.....maybe that will help.

The other Tim
