Having a bimble down to Tintern Abbey yesterday with Bobsnew of this parish and a couple of other good lads we came across this chap:-
Monsieur Damien Fauchot, a true adventurer having been on his travels for the past twelve years visiting Europe, Middle East, Africa and probably many other parts of the world, we just didn't have time to chat long enough to a very interesting and friendly bod.
His R1200GS, well loaded down, was parked on the car park of the railway station cafe when he came across to speak to us. The bike is over ten years old and has 200,000 K/M on the clock. He said it had been totally reliable with no major issues although he had rebuilt the final drive.
He's been in the UK for a few weeks visiting Scotland and Wales and was on his way to the south west before returning to Paris in a months time.
He's already planning his next trip to West Africa, (Ghana, Mauritania and Liberia)
There are a few articles on the web about him but he doesn't seem to use social media. He is planning a book though.
Keep an eye open for him and if you do spot him, have a chat
