Needed to blow the cobwebs out today so headed off to my old back yard for a road ride, which turned out to be quite fun.

Took the 1100 complete with muffs:D

Grabbed a quick coffee and went for a wander around Cwm Idwall.

This gate was designed to mimick the contours of the landscape.

I've always loved this part of Snowdonia even as a kid when my Pa dragged me up all these mountains.

It's been a while since I was last here so couldn't resist this photo.

Then a blast through Capel Curig and Beddgelert on empty roads to Eric Jones's cafe at Tremadog for a cuppa :)

Really enjoying this 1100 now when riding's not just for work:rolleyes:

Then a great ride on some of my favourite roads to call on some mates who live where I used to.

But a quick play beforehand:)

I called at my mates for a brew and his brother turns up on his Harley, he wants to show me his car so off we go.

It's a 1992 Buick.
We sit inside on sumptuous leather seats have a smoke and generally fiddle with all the buttons and gadgets.

So the it blew the cobwebs out and must be the first time I've been out on a solo road ride 'just for fun' for longer than I can remember, yet I used to do it all the time:confused:

Christ I thought Ansel Adams was back from the grave when I looked at those first photos! :D

Interesting point though ... I don't think I've been on a ride just for the hell of it for a year and a bit now. Its very refreshing isn't it.

Yes mate, it was refreshing. I never do road rides for fun these days:nenau

The 1100 is also refreshing, doesn't feel pretentious, it's just a good motorcycle, almost to the point that if I could get what my 1150ADV is really worth I'd sell it and just keep the 1100.

Use just the 1100 for both work and fun :nenau:confused:

You can't be too far from coed-y-Brenin?? I've been mountain biking there, but I can't remember where we stayed.
Do you know of Bryn Terfel the singer, he's your part of the world ... :thumb2

I live closer to Chester these days but used to work in Coed-y-Brenin for the Forestry Commission, you probably did the Red Bull run?

I know of him but that's all:thumb

Yep, there were three or four different runs, but the red bull was one of them.

Bryn and I were very good mates. (lost touch now..). We lived together in London for three or four years .... :thumb2

Is Eric's open again. When I stopped there a few months back it looked like it had closed up. I was gutted, I'd spent so much time there in my youth when climbing at Tremadoc.

Used to be great when you'd hear some young tyro talking about the latest impossible thing he'd climbed. Then Eric would wander out and repeat it after making everyone a cup of tea.

Cracking road through Bedgellert, part of a great run round the region.

Nice photos, thanks for reminding us that we should just get out and ride soemtimes.

But Eric would climb it all without a rope:bow

He wasn't at the cafe yesterday but I saw him a few miles away on his bicycle:)
