I fitted the nippynorman's ciggie lighter, as an auxilliary power socket. If I charge my Nokia phone using this, for an hour, with the engine not running, I assume it'll only draw a small current and not run the battery flat?

Correct :thumb2

But if you have a GS1200 with Canbus - make sure that the socket is from a permenantly-live outlet like direct to battery.

Al :)

I think you may find that the socket will be powered down by the system after a short while....or is this connected drekkly to the battery via an aux fuse?

Have a look at the rating on the charger....the numbers there (output voltage and amps output rating) can be used to work out an exact figure if you like, assuming you know the ratings of your battery :)

Simplified though, no, you can leave a mobile phone charger on a decent battery all night without it flattening the battery (Done it lots on mine)

The socket is wired straight to the battery, with an in-line fuse at 10amps....which I had to use as with 5amps the NN compressor I use would keep cutting out/

Thanks for the replies, I'll charge with confidence, probably.

I've got a standard BMW battery, which I might well change when there, fitting an
Odyssey. I've had three go on me now, all replaced under warranty, but it's bloody annoying.
