That is the question !

Well not the real question but bad jokes aside, I've a question I'm posing to help out a friend.

He's using a Samsung Bluetooth earpiece connected to an iPhone. He also is using an Apple keyboard connected to the phone. Trouble is can't use the two together with a particular bit of software.

What's this doing on a bike firum? Simple answer is he's going blind and needs to type notes during meetings and have the phone tell him what's going on. It complicated stuff. His current earpiece is a Samsung that is not true a2dp or something.

If anyone has a clue about this stuff, could you recomend a reasonably priced Bluetooth earpiece that would do the job? Apparently going blind gets expensive quickly when you start getting into all the software and accessibility hardware that invariably are not covered under government assistance etc. Any tips appreciated.

I bought a Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth earpiece (which also has an inbuilt FM radio) for use with a BMW Nav IV. That is definately A2DP as the media player will not work unless such an A2DP headset is connected.

Other than that, I cannot really help

A2DP allows a stereo transmission over bluetooth as with say the Scala G4/G9 headset for motorcyclists. Without that, you get dual mono into the speakers. May or may not be important in this case.

The Media Player in the nav IV and NavV will not operate without an A2DP Bluetooth headset paired with the unit.

The OP's initial post begs the question of whether an iPhone can transmit/receive to/from two Bluetooth devices simultaneously :nenau This might be a stumbling block. I'm not pretending to fully understand fully how the nuts and bolts of Bluetooth work but my understanding is that, unless designed otherwise, it was one device paired at one time. The Zumo is pretty unique as in it has two Bluetooth stacks precisely because it was designed this way to enable phone and headset connection at the same time.

As to A2DP headsets, I have a Sony SBH52 which works really well with my Samsung S4. Paid about £45 for it. Great stereo sound over A2DP and, as my S4 has no built in FM radio (the only thing I miss form my S2), having that built into the headset is an advantage for me. The unit can be used a mini extension of you phone for receiving calls as well as it has a built in speaker/earpiece.

He ended up getting a cheap thing that worked followed swiftly by a Samsung mono earpiece that sounds good and does what he wants. Thanks for the help folks.
