Hi all, first post so hope you can help me.
I sold my KLV 1000(same as vstrom 1000) a few months ago, i liked the engine hated the fuelling below 3K and the wind blast. Bought a VTR 1000 as always liked these but cant get comfy on it!!

So how does a gs compare?

I have seen a 1200 2005 25000 miles 1 owner fsh panniers, heated grips remus can, i would say 9/10 cosmetically price £4999. Is this a good deal? I have never ridden a boxer.

Do i go for a 1150 or 1200?

Also seen a triumph tiger 1050 how do these compare?

Finally wild card the same dealer has a aprillia tuono 8000 miles 1 owner fsh for £2900.

Welcome to the site :thumb

I had never owned a GS, and bought my first in 2003 without riding one... and loved it ... found this place, and I'm still here ;)

£5k for a 2005 1200 GS is on the money..... You'd also get a late 1150 GSA in mint condition for the same kind of money... more 'agricultural' and some say a lot more character.....

I've had 6 or 7 GS's and loved them all.... now own a Tiger 1050 and love that as well :D

Tuono? nope, not the same type of bike for me ....

relative qualities of the tiger and gs ?

Thanks for the welcome

GS - great for foreign trips... sky's the limit for adding accessories and farkles.... this place alone kept me on them for 7 years ( not saying I wouldn't have another one) Great for 2 up travel as well.

Just fancied a bit of a change, and had the opportunity to ride around 300 miles on a Tiger... liked it so much I bought one....

Up to now changed the panniers for more 'GS like' kit ( Hepco and becker)

Stonking engine, handles great, lighter than the GS .... I'd say its half way house between a sports bike and a GS.... upright like a GS and a comfy seat too..... Chain drive is an issue with some ( but shafts are expensive to put right when they give up) Plenty one here about 1200 final drive woes....

Horses for courses I think..... I'm sure if you test rode both you could decide what suits your riding style best;)

Suggestion for you... those sound a bit rich.....

If you become a subsrciber you'll get access to the For Sale section....

I've bought all my GS's except the first and the last one here... well worth the 12 quid ;)

Thanks all,

Everywhere i go i get told dont get a gs due to the reliability issues such as;

Right hand cylinder drops exhaust valves.
Bevel drive oil leaks.
Bevel driver bearing failures.
Fuel pump relay failures.

The above are some of the current problems for the any bike over a year old.

Prior to this there was the EWS key ring problem.

Later overhead cam engines can easily use a litre of oil in a 1000 miles.

If you test ride a boxer and dont like it, go for a Tuono. Fantastic bike, great engine, loads of character. Just need to watch your licence.
The Tuono is the best naked I have owned, and Ive had a few...:D
