I guess a few of us on this forum had either seen or had brought raffle tickets for the customer GSA abikething built https://abikething.com/product/competition-prize-r1300gsa/ Apparently the winner chose £22k cash rather than the bike (build cost £33k) but my question would be that despite how great the finished bike looks (appreciate everyone has their view on this one!) how would you legally insure it? and at what cost? Steve the owner of abikething seemed to gloss over this a bit on their draw youtube episode but I'd say virtually impossible to insure?

The same as any other Bike - declare the mods? That's assuming he's not amended anything chassis related, and is no longer OEM.

Agree, but when the mods include a full decat system/bhp custom map/non standard colour - any quote would be substantial. Does seem like insurance companies now have 2 categories of exhaust 1) cosmetic or 2) performance - first time I was asked this at renewal this year.

A mainstream insurance company/under writer wouldn't support, without giving you a huge bill as the modifications are all but gibberish to them. But if proposed to someone like Adrian Flux, and underwriters with experience in modified vehicles i think you'd be surprised at the cost.

Have managed to insure some very heavily modified bikes of high value with Bikesure…..every modification from stroker cranks, big bore etc declared….only issue (dealt with by a specific excess ) was the paint job…

Depends .
I could have had it without even telling my insurers as I’ve got a rider policy which covers any bike up to 3000cc
