About to fit an Intaride 803 to my RT, any advice or want me to show what I've done

I have an 803 hardwired into my 2012 RT. Fitted under the seat and use an external aerial just next to the number plate Connected to a starcom and works well.

enjoy

Well first part is done for now, the radio is in and under the seat, I want to test it a bit before finalising all the wiring.

Using the BIRD-1 forum Intaride to pair with BMW Helmet and also a PTT button, but also got a wired PTT and will probably fit that soon.

On my tests with standard setup (radio on handlebar) the reception with Bluetooth was just brilliant, the helmet is also paired to the bike but and will see how it all works together, but so nice not to have any wires between me and the bike.

That won't work. The aerial is up side down !. the words will come out backwards

:P

What is the little box on the right of the radio, and are you using a battery eliminator.

Nice arieal , what make is that please ? Is it ok to put it on upside down ??

Any more pics of the Ariel bracket, would it be suitable to mount a whip type Ariel for the walkie talkie ?

I managed to track down a bracket for motorcycle number plate mounting. It’s a Yaesu AMK-1 Antenna Mounting Bracket. Apart from the BNC bulkead hole being too large (16mm) for the one supplied (couple of M12 washers did the trick) it’s a five minute fix.

Intaride supplied the aerial and the cable. David did say it could go either way up, but said vertical position gives a much better signal strength. I talk mostly in bollox so having Aussie style words won't be a problem :-)

The small box next to the radio is a new Bluetooth device that Intaride have just bought out

7vwh.
I like that aerial bracket its even better than mine. :thumb I used a piece of chequer plate and then painted it. What is it, and where did you get it ?.

That bracket does look good. , will be checking that out today along with the interide antenna. Thanks for the heads up

I have the BMW Radio and communication system, so was intending to fit the PMR next to it, but where 7vwh has his PMR installed, my bike has a chuffing great metal thing with loads of wires, so had to relocate the PMR to the front seat.

A 1m cable will be OK for the rear seat install, but it's a little tight for my liking on the front seat install. If I were to do it again I'd use a 1.5m cable.

Also their cable does have a large bend radius, so this needs to be taken into consideration.

I cable comes in the back just by the light cluster, if you take out one of the screws then you can prise the plastic back and pass the cable in. My install has no holes drilled and I got an extra power outlet and Y cable from a 1600GTL so no need to mess with wires taps.

I'd like to tidy up the 12v supply, I have a hella to twin 12v, and then one has the radio and the other a USB for the Bluetooth.

There is plenty of storage space for wires in the tail, but a degree of waterproofing would be nice for any installs there.

As an alternative Cymark do a nice stainless aerial bracket that fits onto the rack of a GS, not sure if it would fit an RT. I didn't realise Intaride had a Bluetooth option, will it work with sat nav as well as the radio?

Thanks again wobble, my bike has the audio package too so space is limited.
On my 2012 RT I used a ram mount for the pmr radio, now I have the 14 RT and want a external Ariel and to hide the pmr radio somewhere ( didn't think it would fit under the seat).

With the exception of the aerial mount bracket, and the 12v supply I got everything from Intaride.

The bracket has links in this thread, and the BMW parts came from Rainbow.

The hella to 12v twin is an Amazon buy, but pretty rubbish, I'll get a powerlet one soon
No drilling needed at all.

Also I raised at the front of the rear seat up by adding spacers (an M8 nut to allow the front of the seat not to sit on yen cables)case if I were to do it again I would get a longer cable for the aerial and run the cables down the side of the bike under the faring.
The case came from Maplin's

Not sure what you mean by plug in socket and connection cable?
I have a autocom system, the radio is a (5w) Beofeng Chinese job and I have ptt (I have ordered the Ariel mount like yours)
So all I need is a longish lead to connect radio to Ariel and I also need an Ariel but not sure which I need

I didn't want to cut any cables on the bike, these part numbers are for a Y cable that plugs into the existing harness in the tail, then back onto the existing 12v accessory socket, and also on to the new accessory socket.
