I had the 'red triangle' and flashing 'brake failure' warning a few weeks ago, topped up the pots under the tuel tank - all seemed ok. Now the problem has reappeared. There seems to be a lot of this - each involving lots of £s if its the preasure modulator at fault.

I can't seem to find much info on the inner workings and would be gratefull if someone could give me a rundown, one pressure motor or two?, what the two pots on the unit are and what the level should be?.

The symptoms are:

Turn ignition key (not start).
Use front brake lever - whining noise - assume abs servo pump, break light works.
Release front lever brake, noise stops, light goes off
Use foot pedal - no noise, break light works
releae foot pedal, brake light goes off

Start engine red triangle goes out and flashing warning stops after a few yards. Apply brakes red triangle and flashing brake failure, only way to clear is to restart bike.

Front brakes seem, stop the bike as always.

If I convert to non ABS - will I loose any of the stoipping power, I'm not sure if the servos in the abs modulator act in the same way as servo assisted brakes work on cars.

If I do have to replace the modulator, is it an option to move to a non servo assisted version as in the later models.

I now the answer is probably no, but if you don't ask, are there any specialists, perhaps from the car world who can refurbish these units.

And finally, and most imporantly, if I ride as is, is there a chance that the front servo motor may have the same problem leaving me with residual brakes only, and how powerfull are these?

Many thanks
