The simple way.

Switch on ignition. Put on helmet or put on gloves or finish the cup of coffee or whatever else that takes a few seconds.

Start bike and ride off into the sunset.

Simple really.

If you can't be bothered to wait for a few seconds, don't wait until the last moment to turn the key.

Paul

PS Mind you the RT check routine is much quicker so I usually do turn on at the last moment. :D

PPS Just been reading Steptoe's advice on starting an 1150 with ABS. Looks much the same, just undocumented. :)

Ignition off, bike in gear, clutch out.

Hands and feet off brakes, ignition on.

Wait for the startup sequence to complete. Apply brakes.

Clutch in. Starter button.

Bloody hell. One glaring error here, startin the motor with the clutch engaged.

I was gonna say same as normal;

1. Clutch in
2. Rear brake covered
3. Thumb starter button........... but it not really is it,

a palava alright, a recipe for disaster :nono

Same happened to me last week...

The same happened to me last week. My bike is 4-weeks old with 1400 miles on the clock.

Pulled into a garage forecourt to fill up. Normally I just switch on the ignition while I'm sticking my glove back on or stowing my credit card. This time I was a bit hasty and kept my hand on the hand-brake while I turned the ignition key.

I saw the ABS Failure prompt and thought "f*ck!". Stopped bike. Switched ignition off. This time turned ignition back on and waited for diagnostics to complete. No problems since. I just thought "Ah, ha! Need to give the diagnostics a little longer." So, just as Marco and Mouse have said.

I'll take a couple of seconds longer to put on that glove in future!

Cheers,
