ABS light flashing

I`ve finished the R1100 `tidy up` (and thanks to the geezers who has helped with previous posts) but I`ve got a problem with the ABS - I beleive it wasn`t flashing before but is now! Brakes still seem to work.

Once again expressing my total ignorance with all things R1100 (they don`t make them like they used to!) may I ask what I may need to look at to try and sort it out?

I suspect I`ve `done something`....... for instance I could`nt get one of the abs rings off and it got powder coated - would that affect it maybe? I suspect it will but I`d be very pleased to hear it from someone who would know much much more than me I find it too much of a coincidence that the ABS unit itself has failed at the same time I was doing the tidy up

The lights flash in patterns to tell you what is wrong, but it's usually the battery. Try riding it and see what happens, that'll also charge the battery but most off all look carefully at the light pattern and let us know. When you set off you should get a whirr-clunk noise from the bowels; of the bike, not yours. That's the ABS resetting itself.

Mark you won’t crash..... if flashing it’s the ABS that isn’t working and you still should be able to brake safely..just without the aide of the ABS system.
It often is a slightly weaker battery as toblerone mentioned above, so charge the battery to full and check again.

Have tried switching it off, riding for a short distance, then on again. Used to work for my 11 when it was in a mood.

Thanks guys, I`m gonna try cleaning the ABS `blocks` on the ring of all foreign material and I`ll see what happens then eh

There's a minimum/maximum air gap from the sensor to the ring, worth checking.

I still have my 11gs owners handbook somewhere, it listed abs warning flashing. I check once home.

Hi Guys, seemingly all it needed was resetting - it`s a Police Spec bike and there`s a separate ABS switch on the fairing along with the other police bike functions (I think if I press one of them it`ll say "you`re nicked" lol).

I pressed the button, ABS was disengaged, I restarted the bike and all was good!

So, many thanks to all for the kind assistance
