Guys - my 2001 R1150GS has a new gel battery (fully charged) but I'm still getting the ABS lights flashing alternately on start up - as usual on these bikes, it's low voltage at start-up - ride for half a mile, turn off then on again & all is OK, except it's a real nuisance to keep doing it.

I've been looking at this article:

http://advwisdom.hogranch.com/Wisdom/ABS_Low_Voltage_Fix.htm

showing a wiring mod to resolve this problem, but it's shown on a '96 R1100RT. Question is, can this be applied to my
2001 GS ?

Cheers

Yes "but" instead of using the Alternator Wire I use the load shedding relay in the fusebox

I dislike interfering with the alternator "exciter" wiring and just take a feed from the downstream side of the load shedding relay

as soon as you hit the starter button the bottom light comes on and bingo engine running you release the button and the ABS does its self test again with the engine running

NOTE If you have a new battery and it still does it it is worth pulling the starter out and making sure that the grease plate is not loose and shorting out the armature coils!! or that you have a magnet starting to break apart
