A question on behalf of a friend of mine:

How do you reset the ABS on a 1993 K1100RS? It's ABS 1.

Anybody here done this before? Is it the same as for the 1100GS maybe?

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Michel

As far as I am aware its the same K100 rs is,

Tools:
Approximately 1 foot of wire with an alligator clip on one end.
Ignition keys.
Cold beer.

Procedure:
Remove right side cover.
Locate 3 pin terminal tied to upper frame member.
Remove dead end blank from 3 pin terminal.
Plug bare end of wire into middle socket on terminal.
Ground alligator clip firmly to engine.
Press ABS switch and hold.
While holding ABS switch, turn ignition switch on and hold for a count of 20.
Turn ignition switch off.
Remove wire, reinstall dead end blank, snug everything up and replace side cover.
Place wire with tool kit for possible future use.
Stand back, drink beer and say. "Well, I'll be damned!!"
Start bike and drive away happy!!

check that the ABS reset switch is working first otherwise you'll never reset it, hold it down with the ignition switched on, if the lights carry on flashing the switch isn't working ( the wires normally corrode/ break at the back of the switch). Also try to earth it direct to the battery earth. You may need to "clear" it a couple of times depending on how long the ABS has been out of action,

and keep the switch pressed down until after you've switched the ignition off.

Will report back :)
