can anyone help???
I've got a problem with my ABS/servo unit, it keeps going into reset mode when I blip the throttle.
I thought it was the battery playing up, but just fitted an odessey and it's still doing it. Everything appears OK on start up and for a few miles then after on/off stopping in traffic the reset sequence comes in when powering up.
getting a bit pissed off with it, no brakes during reset !!!!!!!!

Brake fluid levels in reservoirs are OK,
Alternator belt is tight & appears OK.
If anyone has had a similiar fault can you let me know.

Bike is an 04 1150 ADV, 28K miles.

many thanks in advance,
Paddy no brakes,:beerjug:

i had a similar problem the other week, it turned out to be the micro switch on the rear brake. My bike went over on the O/S on grass and slightly bent the brake lever inwards. took me ages to find out the problem. micro switch metal thingy had gone down the side of the pedal. re positioned the micro switch and hey presto everything is now OK.

That fixed mine, may not fix yours though.

update

:eek:Just been to motoraad and they plugged in the pc to read out the faults, it came up with 4 faults but they thought it was low fluid in the abs unit. I did not think it was this, but agreed that they should take the tank off and check.
Fluid level normal.
OUTCOME: (BMW)
eer em we're not sure, computer says reset the system and if it happens again then you need a new ABS control unit.!!!!!! That'll be 64 pounds please.
Great news, not! New ABS unit 1,100 pounds:eek:

I still think, read hope, it's the alternator.

So if anyone on here has had to replace/remove their ABS unit, could you let me know what symptoms you had, especially if the ABS reset mode came in on throttle up.

again thanks in advance,
P.

If it's the ABS unit, best thing to do is get rid of the ABS unit and have the brakes as normal ones. This is a sub £100 job and whilst it may affect the sale value, not as much as £1100 :thumb

I would check the micro switch to and (don't shoot me) clean the contacts of your rear brake light and make sure the bulb isn't rattling around.

Cheers Flipfly

Thanks for the tip, I had checked to see if the bulb was working, al OK there also he contacts were clean.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope someone has had the same thing,

ANY TAKERS??????

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope someone has had the same thing,
Same here, with the same diagnosis by BMW - 'Low fluid', but after reading the faults concluded that 'it's probably the unit'. :nenau

Haven't done anything since, so am also waiting for another solution than replacing the ABS unit.

Need to find out if it will pass the MOT with blinking warning lights. So far opinions are divided (in Sweden).
