I am about to do this job and have the posts from this forum from DaveH. So after separating the Brake ECU from the ABS unit I will be leaving the brake ECU connected after a little rewiring.

Please correct me if I have misunderstood, this will sort the front and rear lights, lower red dash warning light, speedo and brake lights for the front lever and the rear foot lever.

The U shaped link pipe from Motorworks will directly join the front brakes to the lever.
A new pipe from the footbrake master cylinder to the rear calipers to join those.

Job's a good'n.......

One question, I read somewhere I need to replace my existing rear hydraulic line with one for a GS as the RT one is too short to reach the master cylinder.

So what rear brake hydraulic line do I need to order?

Also remove the blue relay in the fuse/relay box, and pull out the lower bulb in the instrument panel.
I’m sure I’ve used the original brake hose on the RT’s when converting to normal brakes in the past. …. I did when doing the job on an RS couple weeks ago

Steptoe, on a post you made on 6th May 2010, post number 27, on the "Removal of ABS...Switch issues" by TheMcQuaid you said a new hose was needed??

Yea, I realise you need to pull the blue relay, I was planning to use it to reverse the brake light switches.

Also my owner handbook tells me that the lower red light, warning triangle is needed for the bulb out warning?

You’ve got things confused between the two entirely different methods of removing the abs/servo modulator - if still using the modulator ECU you don’t need to use the blue relay or rewire anything - you only keep the blue relay and rewire the brake lights if not re-fitting the abs/servo ecu .. and forget what the handbook says about warning lights once it’s all been removed 😄
And you can use the rear hose but it does bend at an acute angle

Ahhhh! I see now where I was confused!

So do the plumbing, remove the ABS lump, keep the ABS ECU as is, pull the blue relay, pull the other warning lamp?

So no "bulb out" warning going forward?

You’ve got it :thumb

I don't suppose there is a way to retain the red telltail light on the dash so it can still signify a bulb out is there?

nope because its going to flash all the time with the Main components missing

Another thing to be aware of Carry a spare bulb with you as if the tail lamp element goes it feeds a lesser current to the brake filament to make sure you have a tail lamp / brake lamp

Thanks, I was kinda hoping there was a wire I could cut or join to get a result. Ah well nevermind.

Thought, if that red lamp is going to be totally removed then I suppose there is somewhere back in the loom / fusebox etc. I can disable it so I don't have to disassemble the dash ????

Thanks for the spare lamp prompt...

The dash doesn’t need any disassembly.
The top flashing light will go out when you remove the blue abs relay.
The bottom solid red lower warning light bulb can be removed by putting your hand up behind the instrumental panel and pulling the bulb out.

with the tank and stuff all off fingers were enough!

Done the deed, all seems well.
It seems no other fix would have worked as when I removed the ABS ECU I found a burnt out component on the ECU.
Still used it and plugged it back in and all brake, indicator, dash and side lights worked as they needed to.
