Sorry, this is moy first post on anything like this.............
I've just come back from the Holland trip and it was brilliant, i was told not to off road on road tyres............. did it and it was great!

can some one tell me why they tell you to turn the ABS off when off road - i didn't 'cos i didn't know how (should have read the owners manual)

The bike was brilliant and went through everything even with road tyres, what would i have gained with turning off the ABS?

any good reason greatly appresiated - so if this appears thick!

The reason to turn off the ABS whilst off road is so that you can lock the rear wheel on loose surfaces. Very different stopping on the loose and mud than on paved roads.

Also there are some surface conditions where the ABS cuts in early and leaves you with very little braking, so you can stop more quickly and reliably if you turn it off and feel for the limit of (front tyre) traction yourself.
