Does anyone have one of the subject heading disk locks from Abus and know whether they fit a R1200GSA 2016 ? Looks quite good and useful to act as a deterrent when popping into a shop.

I know its no replacement for a chain and proper security - I just want 'something' lightweight that I can stick on for 10mins. I dont live in London...or a big city with bike theft issues (currently)...yes -I understand the irony of me not using full security and the likelihood of bike theft issues increasing....

Does it fit - anyone know ?

+1 Roadlok or Abus 8008 with alarm, I have both

This one has the alarm as well - that's what I liked about it.....reminds me if I forget to take it off and also bit more of a deterrent if interfered with...

Look at the RoadLok.

Thats a better solution, in my opinion.

I've been reading up on the Roadlok on here and it seems very neat solution, always on the bike etc. The issue I have with it is the potential problems of fouling. I bike all year round and the bike is 'AllYearBiker'd 3 or 4 times a year - so it tends to get quite covered in the wetter/winter months. I'd be pissed if I got to the bike and couldnt get the fecker undone ! The disc lock would only be 'out' for 30mins shopping trips at lunchtime etc - so I can't see it getting fouled up ?

I bought one last week following recommendation on here. Amazon did a low price for the lock and chain combo.

I’m surprised how heavy it is.

I have the Roadlock and an Abus Granite without an alarm. The Roadlok is much easier to carry but the Abus is much easier to attach. Your call.

Fair comment. :)

I have ridden mine all year round and not had a problem with Roadlok in 18 months. I cleaned the Black blanking plug once when I took out and covered in road salt

Anyone know how much a roadblock weighs, are they heavy?

Steel or alloy?

+1 On Warlord comment. Don't forget the Road lock sits on the Brembo so only weight is the security pin. My keys are heavier

I was asking the question to gauge the amount of the extra ‘unsprung weight’ that I would be adding to my front end suspension?

It’s always a good idea to keep a bike’s unsprung weight to a minimum to get the best results from the suspension.

Sounds like it’s quite light! :thumb
