Has anyone noticed how badly the factory accessory socket is mounted? (the one below the seat on the left frame). It's very hit and miss trying to locate the socket while on the bike trying to plug in the heated vest with a gloved hand.

Has anyone moved theirs, and if so where to - any photos? I have already added a second socket up front but I use that for GPS.

I'm looking to move mine where I can actually see it from the saddle (same as 1150 maybe).

Grateful for any suggestions / ideas.

Yes, I'd noticed that too, when I had the exact same problem last week on my GS. Trying to plug the heated vest in means reaching back with the left hand. After a few tries it becomes easier. Alternatively, you could plug in the vest prior to mounting the bike. I've done that before.

Thanks guys. I may well have to go for another socket up front but I was kinda hoping there was an easy fix to moving the original frame mounted one. I've tried hooking up to the beak mount but I'm not convinced the vest cable wouldn't scuff the tank paintwork and generally get in the way.

You could just get an extension lead that has a bm plug on one end and the socket on the other to go from the seat socket and come out of the tank / seat interface? Or is that too easy?

Simplicity itself - thanks, knew someone would come up with the answer :o

Plenty of cigar ended adapters available out there, but none, seemingly, with a female BMW end.

Unless you know different....

Dear Stormchaser

I have the 1200 GS and im not sure if it is the same as the GSA in this area, but i added an 2nd accessory socket. You would need to make up a bracket for this one though. Start By pulling the plastic cover of just below the tank, left side. (it pulls of. no screws). There are two holes under the sticker, that will take a 4mm screw and nut. This will hold the bracket on to which you attach the accessory socket. Then wire it directly to the battery via fuse. I use this socket for the optimate charger.

Nip down to HG and get a plug & inline socket. The nip up the road to Maplin an buy some cable. Hey presto :thumb
