Just bought a mint 2014 LC with 14k miles. Everything works except the accessory socket by the clocks. Put a bulb across the terminals and just gets a quick flash of the bulb on turn on. The nav plug works fine, but the output plug on the left had fairing seems dead as well, just 6-8v on the canbus wire. The previous owner said it never worked. Do you think the ZFE is fried for that function. Everything else works perfectly!

check that an accessory such as a phone charger/USB socket/relay has not been added to the socket wiring. This might be drawing near the max current of the circuit and then adding another load trips the electronic breaker.

Hi Wessie, it’s totally stock, just the Garmin plugged in.

What bulb are you using to test it?
I think the socket is rated at 2 amps so if , for example , you’re using an old 45 watt headlight bulb then this will trip the circuit.

Just a 6w bulb. It’s too quick for a meter to register.
The nav socket on my RS sometimes switches itself off. My dealer told me this is because I didn’t spec the bike with Nav Prep and therefore the nav power supply needs activating in the electronics by BMW to give a constant supply.
Could it be that yours simply needs plugging in at the dealer and activating? Plausible given that it has never worked.

Poor Battery condition can create this issue, where the bike detects the battery lacks punch, so shuts down all but the essentials to enable a start.

Failing that, I can only think something is creating a parasitic drain across these aux supply sockets - have you checked the wiring back to source beneath the plastic. Is it any different with the Garmin satnav cradle completely disconnected?

Also, I’ve just remembered that the aux socket next to the clocks on my 2013 GS LC was wired incorrectly. The pos and neg were crossed over. I had to split the male connector and swap them around.
