Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Anchorage for a night or two? Planning to arrive on 13th June to rest up before heading for Prudhoe Bay.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Hi
think we stayed at the super 8 in anchorage close to Alaska leather which is worth a visit.
if you are staying over in fairbanks the university rents out rooms in the summer good rates i can dig out the contact for you (ADV rider guy)
wiseman we stayed here watch out for Mozzies!! http://www.arcticgetaway.com/
And watch the last 50 miles of the haul road deep ruts filled with gravel
just give it the beans and you will be fine!
any other info you need send me a PM and yes I want to go back!!

There are plenty of good motels around up there.

Here is one I would highly recommend near Fairbanks http://www.lizziesnest.com/. It is near Fox which is just north of Fairbanks. They will let you leave all your extra luggage there before you hit the Dalton because it's the sensible thing to travel as light as possible on teh way to Prudhoe Bay. There is great restaurant called teh Siver Gulch close by as well as the most northerly Rock and Roll bar in the US!!:thumb

Of course, there are loads of motels in Fairbanks if you just want the standard Super 8 etc.

On the way up the Dalton, you can stay in either Coldfoot, Wiseman or in Prudhoe itself. We stayed at the Borreal Lodge in Wiseman on the way up and back and it was cracking. Coldfoot is just a shitty truckstop.

Let me know if you want any more info on routes, road conditions, must see's etc in Alaska and I'll gladly help out:thumb
