Location
Clackmannanshire
Planning my quarterly meet-up with my Brother (on our Guzzi's - he has a V85TT, I have a V100 Stelvio :) ).
He's in Lyme Regis, I am in Clackmannanshire (Central Scotland)
Somewhere near Ruthin looks fair, almost equidistant for the 2 of us to meet. We did N Wales last time and had a fab time renewing our acquaintance with the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia :)
I do like the look of the Druid Inn ( https://www.druid-inn.co.uk/ ) - decent menu and fair prices for Accommodation.
Just wondered if there is some local knowledge on here who could make a trusted recommendation for 2 nights accommodation in the general area?
Cheers

Thanks, Duvet, Wessie. Both look great but sadly no availability on our dates. Both pretty full for August! Must be a good sign I think :)

I live in Mid Wales, the traffic here is manic, especially weekends. Even on a Wednesday afternoon the traffic yesterday on the Oswestry A5 bypass was chocker. It took me ages to get from the Welshpool road up to the Gobowen roundabout to visit friends (in the car).

Consider The Raven Inn in Llanarmon-yn-lal. It’s a couple of miles from The Druids.

I’ve eaten in both and both were good, fish and chips Friday night at The Raven were good.

I’ve not stayed in either but my pick would be The Raven since it’s in a far nicer location.

We stayed here just over a week ago https://nantgwrtheyrn.org/.

We didn’t do a language course, just somewhere to stay. It came up on booking.com with a good discount for last minute. The rooms are quite small so go for 1 each unless you are very comfortable with each other. It’s isolated, no pub no evening meals as the cafe shuts at 4pm. But it’s in a spectacular spot. We picnicked on the a bench fab views. Even if you don’t stay it’s well worth a visit in the day for the cafe and its views. And the road down is very very steep with two proper hairpin bends.

Thanks, I know it well! Used to go as a child when it was deserted

Not sure if you are still in Corwen, if so go to the Rhug estate for a bison burger. Sat outside or inside , in summer lots of bikers. Not cheap but you can see the bison in the field from where you eat . Highly recommended

I was at Rhug a couple of weeks ago .... no bison burgers, couldnt see any bison either. Had a bacon and egg bap that was pretty poor - bacon like hard cardboard and an egg you could split slate with. in a normal sized bread roll, cost £9 with a filter coffee. I guess it depends who is on cooking that day. Used to be brilliant when it was just a shack, but now its gone up market .... not so good.

ruthin castle hotel and spa, daughter stayed here, said it was nice.although she was on a girly weekend with her mates.
