last leg of my Borders and North UK tour. Hopefully will stay at the Fox and Hounds in Cothestone on the way ´´out´´ and looking for something similar; village pub with rooms for the last night before heading to the ferry.
We used to stay at the Rose and Crown in Romaldkirk but after COVID the prices went nuts and the food downhill...Any ideas. Thks

Reeth, Black Bull or Kings Arms. Half an hour south of Barnard Castle. Parking is on the cobbles in front of the pubs.

Middleton in Teesdale - just up the road
Teesdale Hotel

There are also 2 air BNB's right behind it, in its car park that are very good too
Stayed here twice before....booked for 3 nights this coming April

Decent food & drink in pub, great breakfast, parking at back through the archway
Chippy across the road as mentioned
Forresters also across the road, ate there once, decent food, lot of French cooking but other stuff too. They also do accomodation
From Teesdale you have many good roads to opt for right out of the village

Picking one up off the Isle of Man ferry, hence visit to near Lancaster before the good roads

Whatever you do, do not stay at Runa farm. It’s not nice.

This place in weardale is good, i have stayed for a long weekend.

Used to stay in The Teesdale Hotel years ago in another life...was then run by a very formal 'correct' German. My then boss was an alcoholic earl...now dead....who had an estate nearby and used to spend a lot of time in the bar.....
Nearly 30 years ago now! Was always perfectly comfortable, particularly as someone else was paying!
Middleton in Teesdale was always a very agreeable village.
