Looking to break up our trip down to Plymouth later in the year so any ideas would be most welcome please.
Around this sort of area would be great. Preferably not a big town.

Thanks Doc

I have edited the title, so the area requested stands out for anyone surfing through the sub-section.

Both look nice places but the boss is not overly keen on stopping in pubs as obviously sometimes they can be noisy.
Although the Barrington looks to have annexes you can stay in.

I have stayed at the Inn at Fossebridge, just outside Cirencester. Stayed 5 times and going back in Sept. Food is good pub food, car park is large, although gravel, so if on a bike park to the right as you go in, gravel is hard packed there.

They only have 7 rooms, never had an issue with noise, its a very quiet pub, breakfast if very good. It is a bit faulty towers, the owners are great, but they do not like idiots, so if you are very demanding or a knob, don't stay there :)

Then if you want something a little posher, the Bear Inn at Rodbourough, near Stroud is quite good.

Couple of routes on googly maps.
Around the area I have chosen leaves me around 170 miles to Plymouth.
Personally I would stay well clear of the M1/25/4 around the Capital - your choice obvs.

Georgian Cheltenham is pleasant, usually something happening around the Montpellier area & not far off the M5. All the usual chains, but maybe the Hotel di Vin, Malmaison or even the Queens.

If you are coming down to this area and using the M1 go M1->M69->A5 (4 mile) -> Fosse Way through to Stow on the Wold and Burford its just as fast as trying to hammer the motorway on a bike, but far far nicer ! If I head north by bike this is the route I would take

We stayed here a few years ago when heading to Ireland - plenty of room round the back for a bike or two - very happy with the facilities and location.

Pretty tiered these days, I live local to it. If you want some quintsential olde english a couple fo options. I would suggest The Castle Inn in Castle Combe if you want a pub in a almost film set village. Busy with tourists during day but lovely in evenings. Alternative White Hart - at Ford - https://www.whitehart-ford.com/

Some great suggestions.
Thanks lads.
