A group of us are off to the Emerald Isle later this year and we would be most grateful if you could recommend any Hotels, B&Bs, Guest-houses that genuinely welcome sopping wet motorcyclists. You know the sort, large, oafish, dank, ejits on motorcycles, standing in their accommodation, leaving muddy puddles wherever we go - why wouldn't anyone welcome us to their abode?!

As our intention is to cover the entire country, north & south, we'd welcome recommendations from all points of the compass.

All the best, and thanks for your help, Jim.

ps. - if you know of an excellent campsite ................ you never know it might not rain!

Jaysus, that's a bit general! :augie
Well the only camping I have done in 20 years was here,

http://www.tipperarycamping.com/

It was very nice. (The hotel beside also seemed not to mind a large group of loud, hairy shouty, pint swilling GSers, so that's probably a recommendation too).

At best I can only attempt "general"

Tengiz99 -- Anything more specific gives me a headache!

Our plan, such as it is, is to follow our beaks and wander about poking said beaks into anything that looks at all interesting - and that's before we ingest any stout.

Thanks for the link it looks most promising - camp if sunny, hotel if the weather is "soft".

All the best, Jim.

You could come on spec to be honest, most B&B's ive been to are dead sound and bikers are welcome in general, enjoy the trip when you come over

James, unless you come at a Bank Holiday w/e (we still find the money for those :D) accommodation won't be a problem, it's kinda quiet in the tourist industry. Good value to be had ;) I wouldn't pay for anything yet as they mightn't be around when you wanna stay ! I've never been refused or treated badly as a biker, even sopping wet, and at the moment they'd be more than happy to see youse :thumb2

I usually book somewhere when I've gone as far as I want & find http://www.booking.com/ brilliant

Whenever you come and wherever you go / stay enjoy it, ride safely & do a write-up afterwards :aidan

Sound advice - but do bear in mind that some Irish Bank Holidays are not on the same dates to UK ones. Well we do like to be different :aidan

What dates are you planning, that would help to identify the holidays and also it's silly season in the north in July ;)

Meelmore Lodge in the Mourne Mountiains has a good camp site and a hostel plus a small cafe on site. Good base to explore the Mourne Mountains and County Down coast. Also a few miles from Newcastle which is a mini mecca for local motorcyclists at the weekends.

always a bed for bikers at my house , Abbeyleix Co Laois , wet or dry :beerjug:

as the song goes, " Were i to have my choice of place, I'd live no place , but Abbeylace "

Several .....

I could be over later this month, or more likely next, with a further trip in late June.

All the above in addition to my usual trip across for the Skerries races.

5 Eyes -- be careful what you offer, as I'm capable of taking you up on it!

All the best, Jim.
