Flash of the Gap is heading up to the Black Looneys weekend and is coming off the Irish ferry mid evening tomorrow.

Does anyone know a good BnB or guesthouse that he could use in Glasgow or between Glasgow and Perth area?

The Boathouse - near Kilsyth :thumb2

The Boathouse

An ex-coleague stayed there recently with his missus, and I met them there for dinner.

They couldn't praise it enough, and the food was great. Not expensive either :thumb2

It's the same price as a travellodge, but infinately better.

There is also one "The Wheelhouse" near the Falkirk Wheel.

The Boathouse will be ya best bet. Trying to get to Falkirk at that time of night may not be a good idea with the road works going on with A80...they have a habit of closing the lanes down to one each way at night.

Enjoy..

The Inn at Strathyre on the A84 is fantastic if he's prepared to go that far north of Glasgow.

The boathouse and marina area used to get locked up at night to stop unwanted visitors which might be a good thing for the bike but just something to check if going there and needing an early start. As said before the food is very good. The wheelhouse at Falkirk is just a resturant.

The straight forward way from the ferry to Kilsyth is still along the A80 cutting off at Auchenkilns interchange or the junction before(the two roads meet) as that takes you straight past the marina. I've just checked the website and nothing is mentioned for this weekend and there were no information boards on the road in this morning. Since the Glasgow M8 rush hour start about 1 pm on fridays anyway it might take longer to get to the A80, but on saying that the roads have been a lot quieter with the schools being off this week. I wouldnt be unduly worried about it anyway.

http://www.dalvey-perth.co.uk/ is owned by a friend of mine, and is biker friendly, if you were heading as far as perth probably about 45 mins past the boathouse but straight up the A9:(

I would also agree with the inn at strathyre which would give a nice run up to perth the following morning but it's years since I stayed there.

Just checked with traffic management who say there are no full closures for the A80 this weekend just the usual contraflows.
