Does anyone use ACF-50 or similar product all year round?
I have to say my washing/looking after skills have lacked somewhat over the years. I have always owned japanese bikes and they have been pretty good at taking the abuse of a year round rider who realises that it has been a couple(!) of months since the last vist to the bucket and sponge. The only thing I did notice was some corrosion on some of the bolts.
Soon to pick up my gs and am determined to start a new regime of maintenance...................hopefully. :augie

Loads of threads on here about it:thumb

A lot of people use ACF50 as it works well and I`ll do mine with it in the autumn.

I currently use FS365 or WD40 all year round and it does the job. Gave the bike a spring clean yesterday (1st proper wash since November) and she came up lovely. My 1200GS-A is used most days and lives outside:thumb

There are some horror stories of corrosion but most survive with no problems at all. Front engine cover is the normal place to go so thats worth keeping an eye on.thumb2

Just thought, you`ve got a parallel twin so ignore the front engine casing but you get my drift:augie

Ive been using the ACF50 and the FS365 since I got my bike in October last year and they both work well.

If I had a preference it would probably be for the FS365. I put it in my own spray gun which gives a really fine mist like spray.

I've used the 800 in all weathers and thus far only a bit of furring on bolt heads around the rear end and some surface rust on the front discs but nothing to get worried about.

I used to have JAP bikes before the 800 and was really anal about cleaning, not taking it out if it looked like rain in the coming week and never washing with water... Since then I've got a life and decided that I'm going to use the 7 grands worth of machinery and if a few bits corrode and need changng then so be it, the small cost of knackered parts will far outway the fun factor.
(It took much therapy to come to that way of thinking)

Just use it for what it is - not a sunday morning posing machine.

Use it on all the bikes I've had. To be honest the FS360 seems a bit of a faff as it's water soluble so you have to reapply every time it rains, so therefore I think you need to wash the bike evry time .....

ACF50 clean bike, spray on, forget about it :) Every so often have a shufty around the bike, and top up the protection of needed. Easy :)

+1 Great stuff :thumb, did mine in early November, washed it in the new year and it came up lovely. (I was worried about doing this til i say the results). Lathered it up again and its still looking good.

Bear in mind it'll look like sh1te after a while (all the Jap razorblade riders take the mick), but underneath all is well!

+1 on the ACF50. I also use GT85 to clean the plastics. GT85 is a water displacer. Be careful about using it around axels and the like. It also doubles as a great aftershave. Smells fab!:augie

I was looking at the ACF-50, but it's soooo expensive.

Today I bought a 5L can of WD40 from Screwfix for £21.00 and a 4L bottle of ACF-50 on Flea-Bay is over £90.00 ....

The FS365 smells great and is worth using for that alone, those of us old enough to remember what real Gunk smells like will appreciate it...

True, but a very little ACF 50 goes a very long way, and lasts for months. You could probably treat a few aircraft with 4L of ACF 50. In the long run it is cheaper, but my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it. :)

So the question now is - how do you clean the ACF-50 off come spring? I have just smothered my GSA with the stuff and I hope all thats said about it is true. But what is the best way of removing it so you can admire the gleam in the sunshine again?

Agreed Pete, but this WD40 will last for ages now, AND it's good for curing ArthurItis donchaknow...:toungincheek
