ACF-50

Finally got around to cleaning my bike up and coating it with ACF-50 to protect it against the salt etc. Cleaned it with sdoc100 on somebody here's recommendation. Amazing stuff. Just sprayed it on and half an hour later gave it a light rub with a sponge and rinsed it away.. easy.
After leaving the bike to dry in Bin's shed (Thanks) and covering the front and rear wheels with black bags I gave it a fairly liberal coating of acf50 straight from the cold can (It was recommended I warm it up a little first but was on the street so couldn't). It goes on like wd40 and is pretty messy looking afterwards. I then used a roll of bounty (kitchen roll) and gave it a polish up and made sure there were no drips. Gave it a final check, ensuring all the nuts, bolts, nooks and crannies had been done. Took the bags off and sprayed acf50 directly on kitchen roll and did the rims.
Have to say.. easy job and it came up sparkling. Even after riding it for a few hours in the rain today it took only a quick rinse with the hose to get it back shiny.

ACF-50 not bounty but ......

a J cloth , it does not absorb too much of the ACF and if you keep it in a zip lock bag you will keep it moist to spread

you are still better off heating the can to aid atomisation .... or better still buy the bigger size bottle of ACF and pour into a parafin Gun and now spray the bike you get a nice mist of where you spray , watch out for your brakes and tyres

I spray it everywhere, except discs/pads. I don't really touch the bike myself till the spring but once a month recoat the exposed bits (forks, engine casings etc) after a sponge wash (not power wash, as philgunn says, put a cloth in a zip bag and keep it for later use ) This stuff stays put unless you use a good cleaner as stated above. It is tempting to clean it of to have a look see, don't just let it do its work and come spring, nice deep clean and nice shiney bike.

Thats simple

bring the bike into the kitchen,

shove the front wheel up against the end of the kitchen counter

and when Maireads wiping down the counter her natural instinct will kick in and she'll continue cleaning until she reaches the rear wheel our your bike
