ACF-50

Ok so I got my can of ACF- 50 today , just been out and sprayed the bike , my question is I got abit over excited with spray and some has ended up on my back tyre should I be worried

There is no problem in applying a very film to the rims themselves (would recommend applying a thin film with a rag). but i would avoid applying or leaving this product on the tyres..

You would wipe the tyre of any oil say that got spilled from the FD when draining it, so as this is no doubt a petroleum based product the view of the tyre manufacture would be to remove it

In addition there could be a risk of the rear tyre "slipage"

It was on the centre of the tyre , abit of over spray while I was trying to spray the rear frame work , I did wipe the excess away

seriously same happened to me went all over sidewalls and tread,wiped it off and made it to nec next day shiney side up

Does it work?

If you use this spray will it mean that you need not wash off the road dirt as often/not at all - or is it intended for when you 'lay up' your bike?

spend two hours cleaning the bike before I put the spray on so hopefully

Sounds a bit like 'Gunk' - does that still exist? The smell was not too good.

Gunk was a degreaser and not a corrosion inhibitor. It was very good for getting oil and cr*p off old British bikes. Smelled like Jeyes fluid though.

Stick to ACF50 if you want your bike to last the winter, unless it's old and British in which case it will be self-protecting

Reminds me of those happy days when you hammered gaskets out of brown paper, ground in valves with paste and could undo ( or more often tighten up) almost everything on a bike with a couple of spanners. In fact there was one bike that only needed one spanner - it was called a Woller I think and this spanner was mounted on the headlight; Sorry, I have gone off thread - must be the gunk vapour!

I might have guessed that it was sold in "Quart" bottles!
If you bike does 12 miles to a quart of petrol, what is its petrol consumption .........in litres per hundred kilometres, please?

never gonna put acf-50 on my bike again , I,ve been riding my bike for weeks in the salt snow etc . Its always dirt , but i get home I give it a quick wash off and it looks like new again , yesterday I put acf-50 on. went out for a ride today never seen my bike so dirt . its just taken me almost 2hours to clean it ! instead of the normal 30mins .my yellow sponge is now in the bin because it so black .

fs365 is an excellent product and might be more suitable to your needs if you like to wash your bike through the winter.

So after you've sprayed it on you can just wash down the bike with water ? Then after some number of washes it needs reapplying I assume ?

Ive used both ACF50 and F365, ACF50 is far better -I apply ACF50 in October and I dont clean my bike until the spring
