ACF 50

Anyone not use this amazing stuff? when I picked up an ex-demo from Balderstons in Nov 2010 they had drowned it in the stuff and it lasted all through the winter with just the odd top up on the engine.

Just given the bike a damm good clean with S Doc 100 and then soaked the engine with ACF 50, smoked a bit when I started her up but that soon clears and the engine looks like new.
About the only place you can`t use it is on tyres and brakes (obviously!) but it works on everything else including plastics.

I have seen that some companies offer a service where they clean your bike and then spray it with ACF 50, anyone had this done, what do you think?

my local dealers (bahnstormer in alton) do a full valet and acf50 application for £39. Considering it's £12 just for a can of the stuff, I think that's pretty reasonable.

yellow container, spray applied. Lovely. Use it on my Jeep too!

The FS365 is alright but water based and it washes off. Trust the Canucks where ACF50 is developed (and the US military). Stuff is amazing.

Because the pump action bottle gives a really fine mist, it goes much further than a spray can, and lasts ages.

1 can will depending how you put it on will do your bike 4 or 5 times

They must have changed the consistency then, because when I used it, it just squirted out a narrow jet, resulting in it dripping all over the bike.

Now I apply it with a paint brush, works much better. Some apply it with a sponge too. You only need a very very thin layer.

While WD40 is good and has it`s uses if you spray the engine it burns off unlike ACF50. Used to use WD40 on my F800S engine and while it looks good initialy it soon wears off wheareas ACF50 doesn`t.

Not having used ACF50 before I didn`t know how long it would last and I didn`t want to remove it with SDoc 100 so just washed the bike with car shampoo. But the other day I wanted to really clean the bike and re-new the ACF50 so I cleaned it throughly with SDoc100.

SDoc100 is an amazing cleaner but with ACF50 on the bike most of the crap washes off, just need to top it up occasionaly, as someone else mentioned when it stops beading water spray some more on.

yeah, I completely soaked my bike and its held up great. i removed the pads and blasted it everywhere. cleaned the disks and then put pads back in - brakes were sh*te!

i'm not sure how i'll protect the calipers in future? but a great product.

With a plastic bag over them. Anything you do near the wheels, do it with a sponge or a brush. Don't spray it. If you spray it, you need high pressure sprayer as the ACF50 is too thick to spray on thinly.
Remember, you only need a very very thin layer.

Had my 800gs done by All Year Biker last spring washed it for the 1st time last week 6000 miles done since and never washed it once and never re applied.For £60 money well spent in my book bike looks just as good as before. Must admit though much prefer riding than cleaning.
Just need to get it reapplied which meeans a trip up York way as thats the nearest place to have done.

But the calipers were corroding so i wanted to protect them as well..

I bought the big bottle of the stuff which comes with a pumped applicator - works very well.
