Hey all - I recall seeing a few posts advising to treat the exposed metal if riding on salty roads otherwise risk my GS falling apart infront of my very eyes!!

Any particular areas to focus on treating / vulnerable spots?

Cheers,

I go over everything apart from brake discs, clear plastic/glass, the tanks and seat.

Whilst plastic and rubber obviously doesn't corrode, ACF50 brings out a really nice black lustre, a bit like GT85 but lasts a lot longer.

The standard can is hard to apply in coatings thin enough to avoid it capturing grime and making the bike dirty. But a service from allyearbiker.co.uk applies it as a superfine spray to the entire bike (excluding tyres and brakes etc). Well worth it in my opinion

Go get the 950 ml bottle and a good pump spray gun do it yourself you will save over the years of use as the av price for someone to do it for you is £60 a £30 bottle will last 20 odd application and you will get to know your bike intimately

I used my local "allyearbiker" person (it's a franchise) last year when I bought my new GS, I won't go into detail bar to say I will never use the service again, cost me over £100 and I ended up with a very scratched windscreen that I had to replace, I even had to lend the fella my bike dryer as his didn't seem to work. Your local operative may be OK but I'd strongly recommend you do the job yourself if you are at all inclined, it's simple to do as Zx9man says - I even did a video on ACF'ing your bike here >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6viSTMBnL_M&list=PL_719tkJvufZW59HANCu2VtrACsEeQmK4&index=12 if you're interested...good luck! - TMF

Boy I want your garage

I spray some on a micro fibre cloth and wipe over the large areas. For everything else I use a cheap siphon feed airbrush a cheap compressor set at around 25 PSI - job done!
The oil is sprayed from the can into the siphon cup and then the cup is left sitting in hot water for 5 minutes to allow the oil to become more fluid.

I wipe down once a month and use the airbrush once every 3 months.

Acf art lol

I'm new to this ACF50 malarkey, but willing to give it a go: after reading lots about application difficulties, I simply warmed the standard spray can and found it surprisingly easy to apply, taking GREAT care to cover all three disks. Seems a piece of cake, so why pay someone to do it :nenau

When I said 'cover all three disks' I mean cover to protect NOT COVER WITH ACF50 :rob

Funnily enough, I just had the All Year Biker treatment today from Joel Tozer down near Ashford.

It cost £60, took two hours and was worth every penny. He is a nice professional lad who can talk you through every step that he's doing.

If I had done the job myself, which I do (badly!) every year, I wouldn't have spent half the time or effort, so in my books, it's money well spent.

Which ever way you decide to do it, it's worth doing.

Unfortunately it would seem that all year biker does not check up on the performance of those that hold the franchise for a particular area.
This is not the first time I have heard about poor results for the bucks area which is a shame as I think most of the operatives give good value for money.

Cheers Zx9man...can't have it though 'cos I need it :0P ....and yes CPJS agreed - a bit of checking of operatives wouldn't go amiss - everyone else (non Bucks) I know that have had it done say it's a great service....

ACf50 on engine

Hi

I treated my bike to a coat of ACF50 and when I took it out today there was a fair amount of smoke from engine where it had been applied.

Does it deteriorate due to heat and require another application or is it resistant to heat
