I'm attending a Police Bike Safe course tomorrow and I will need to make sure everything is in order. It crossed my mind - is my exhaust illegal without baffles? It's not that noisy (I don't think) and it's E marked but I don't know if thats without baffles? Anyone help me on this one please?

Cheers
Paul.

My Quill is e marked but only legal with baffles in.

itl av been tested with baffles in, if it was ok wi out em, why would they fit them??

If yir going on a bikesafe I'm sure the cops will not be giving a monkies if your bike is safe.

They are there to advise you not arrest you unless yir a bank robber or a paedo :thumb2

****edit***** FFS don't tell them your from Plymouth:ymca

Put the baffles in or they'll think your a nob and treat you as such:comfort

I'm going to meet one of the guys from ERS scheme tomorrow for a wee session and I just fitted my baffle for all the above good reasons. Also he'll be giving me an ear piece to listen to his wonderful words of wisdom and I thought it would be a good idea if I could hear him over the lovely sound of a crackling and popping Akra can. Baffle will be back out tomorrow night and I'll go ack to using my custom ear plugs for normal riding.

Well I put the baffles back in and had a really good day with the Police! Spent about 3 hours riding two to one (police bike). There were quite a few sport bikes there, one had louder exhausts so I doubt mine would have been a problem!

Thanks for your input, I can really recommend the Bike Safe courses - well worth the time and money! Next for me is IAM!

IAM

Next for me is IAM!

I've just been on the 12 week IAM training course....

Well worth while as it teaches you more on observation using their 'system'.

Its surprising what you dont see ! :augie:augie

Took & passed the IAM test.:beerjug::beerjug:

I think Wiltshire is the only County (that I'm aware of) that operates Bikesafe free of charge. You give a 10 pound cheque as a deposit which they give you back when you turn up.

I also beleive they accept students from out of County so if your just over the border you can still apply.

Congrats AlanL - cheaper insurance from now on then!
Police said yesterday that "their system" is adopted by others such as IAM.

I know of Cornwall being the other country that do the Bike Safe free of charge also - literally 1 mile away from where I live. Bike Safe cost me £25 - which as my dad said doesn't even cover their costs for putting the thing on! Well worth it.
