just ordered the acrapovic headers is it it an easy fit and do any lights flash up after you have disconnected the exhaust valve
cheers

Consider a re-map after fitting them. The bike may run ultra-lean and run the risk of excessive valve stem temps.

I fitted Remus headers which necessitate the removal of the exhaust valve, no flasing lights or any other issues. Plug colour looks perfect afterwards too so very unlikely to be running lean

I've just collected my akra headers last week, there very nicely made and the welds make em look like a work of art only downside is the cost £430.

No lights flash up, all you need to do is remove the cables from the servo unit, however if you unplug the servo unit and start the bike up it will store a fault code in the ecu, but will not bring on a light.

Easy peasy to fit the headers.

I kept the flap when I fitted mine , not difficult just takes tine and a rubber mallet to refit the flap . Ran sweet as a nut . Make sure you move the lamba probes out of the way . Took about an hour all in

So, if you unplug the servo unit, and don't start the bike until you've fitted the new headers and plugged the servo back in, will it still store a fault code?

Yes unplug the servo and dont put the ign on will be ok, If you unplug the electrical connector from the servo unit and turn ign on, the bike does a system check and notes the fault in the ecu, however it will not bring the light on, it just stores the code and when a dealer plugs it in he will see the code and clear it.

performance

Did you guys notice a decent performance improvement with those headers (without the catalyst)?
I'm thinking about removing the cat but only if it gives a good enough improvement.

Anyone got any decent pics of the Akra headers?

Graham, mine are back in the box after dummy fit, I'm going to wait till 1st service is done. I can push em back together and take a picture tomorrow if that helps.

It's difficult to say as I have only covered 300Km so far on the LC although I had the Remus headers on my previous 1200 GSA and found that there was a noticeable improvement, mainly in the midrange where it was most useful and without the extra noise of an aftermarket end can. I would be expecting similar results on the new bike, and it keeps the originals in good shape.

That'd be great. No rush though!

They come with a nice stainless heat shield.

Also a fitting manual so there's no excuses, having to pay someone to fit, its igiot proof :) with lots of photos and detailed print .

Do the akra headers still discolour over time the same as other brands??

Tha Akra headers on my twin cam haven't discoloured at all in 2 years, it's debatable but I think they are the best quality after market headers available ;)

So, what's better, Akra headers, or a remap, if you had to choose one or the other? I understand that the remap irons out the flat spots, and from the sound of it, so do the Akra headers. So which is the better option, and what are the differences?:nenau

Another Question, which is best Akra Headers or Akra Endcan. Looking for better performance rather than better sound
