Active 7 - Can I record audio onto DV recorder ?

Have just installed a Dogcam Sport dual camera system to the GS. Works a treat, very impressed with the quality and minute size of the DV recorder (DV500 Model)
Have got the sound working OK with the supplied mike, but would like to connect it up to the autocom system to capture audio/ bike to bike comms etc.
I have the 'old' Active 7 smart which has no auxilliary audio out.
Anyone (Rich?) see a problem with using the audio out from the passenger headset plug.
Thinking along the lines of using a spare lead,to connect to passenger socket. Cutting & connecting green/white wires (LH channel audio) to a female phono plug, then connecting that plug to the audio in on the DV connector using ordinary phono lead.
Would the signal need attenuating using a line level converter or similar ??
Anyone know of a simpler solution ??

Yes, ring the factory and ask them whether cable 1577 or 1580 will work in the phone socket of the Active 7 Smart.
Failing that.... will they please make you one, if possible.

Yes, ring the factory and ask them whether cable 1577, 3.5mm stereo jack to 4 pole autocom - (now renumbered to 2460) or 1580, record phono to Autocom 4-pole (now renumbered to 2463) will work in the phone socket of the Active 7 Smart.

But would this only give speech input ?? I would really like a WYHIWYG (What you hear is what you get) solution ie, everything that the rider hears.

The Active 7 has VOX control so the passenger does not hear anything the rider hears unless he speaks loud enough to trigger the VOX.
Turn the VOX down enogh to keep the microphone permananently open?

Solution

For those who have pm'd me on this subject...

Autocom suggest the following - for a total sound solution they will provide a bespoke lead. This is an isolated lead with a 7 pin connector to connect to the passenger headset socket wired through the isolator to a male RCA phono plug for the AV input side of the DV500.

This will provide a mono feed (LH channel only) of all sound heard by the rider ie, music, sat nav, phone, bike to bike, riders side tone etc

For information, if the DV recorder has an AV input there is NO need to attenuate the signal from the headset connection BUT there is a need for the cable to be isolated if the DV unit is bike powered to prevent the dreaded ground loop noise... best left to the experts at Autocom

Cost is around £28 +p&p
