ADAC ‘Motorcycle friendly’ hotels

Those with a memory longer than yesterday’s copy of the Beano, will remember (in pre-GPS and GPX days) that ADAC’s touring maps were the ‘Go to’ requirement of any ruggedly independent bikermate. That and their very cheap ADAC breakdown membership, too.

Unlike most of Europe’s rush to become a Lefty (or Righty) version of Green and promote bicycling, walking and ‘Wellness’, ADAC have not forgotten motorcycles and their riders:

Motorcycle holidaymakers have special needs regarding their accommodation: they need an anti-theft parking space for their motorcycle, occasionally drying facilities for the motorcycle clothing, cleaning material and tools for minor repairs or tour suggestions and excursion tips.

In order to meet these needs, the ADAC and the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) have established clear and comprehensible criteria and check in on request whether an accommodation meets the conditions for the quality seal "Motorcycle Friendly Hotel".

I've stayed at Haus Wiesengrund a number of times as either the first or last hotel stop from the DFDS ferry at Ijmuiden. Quiet location and handy for a run around the Sauerland and the famous dams.
The hotel has a number of BMW motorbikes for hire if you fancy trying something different.

I’m off the ferry in Rotterdam and my friends are getting off at Ijmuiden.

Hope there are no bikes with heated seats - the wife will be wanting a test ride !

Super friendly - bike orientated - excellent food and beer - pool- great location - hire a GS/XR/Africa Twin

I’m at the Hotel Enzian in Landeck Austria at the moment.

Never been within 100 miles of it.
