Greets,

want to buy an 1997 R1100GS, but it has no ABS. Can you tell is it possible to buy ABS system separately to mount it on? What it approximately costs? (also would be interesting to know how much i'd have to calculate off from buying price coz it doesn't have one...)

Thanks, Margus

uh! That's one helluva costy unit then! :weights Costs nearly 1/3 of the bike !!!???

I'd better skip it then bnige Will ride mainly on gravel indeed.

Hi Mo,

I was only kidding but if you really want (or think you need abs) only look at bikes with ABS as retro fitting it would be excessive...

Good luck, I have been riding an ABS bike for Three years and can honestly say it has not cut in yet (apart from me playing). I am however happy to know its there sometimes as the Belgian motorways are generaly very badly drained and full of water in bad weather...

Hey Mo, if you're considering getting the GS, and unsure as to which to buy, then just think that you'll pay that bit extra for an ABS machine, but if it saves your ass from even 1 spill it 's paid for itself already......

As Richie says, it rarely or never kicks in, but if you nedd it to and you ain't got it......................

Forget it - i fitted a couple of K series bikes with ABS, about 10 years ago, it costs, in parts and time -

there was a big price difference at the time - not so different now.
