I think I am going to pitch in for some adjustable dog bones, my quest is to get another 4-5mm ride height, my stiffer shock already helps with this and assists ground clearance, but I fancy a bit more ride height for a better steering response and think this will be the way forward.

This setup will also allow me to experiment until I get exactly what I like, the 10mm / 20mm / 30mm kits probably won't be what I am after, even 10mm is fairly large as ride height adjustment goes.

I also like the fact I can easily raise it a shade when setting off on a two-up tour, although I can add more pre-load this only takes you so far, the bike will always be sat a fair bit lower when two-up with luggage unless you swap the spring, this gives me another way of keeping the steering and ground clearance sweet on those twisting Alpine passes.

Anyway, I need to order a custom set of Soupys Performance links, and have them posted from the good old US of A, so if anyone else in blighty fances a set I can probably get 3 shipped for the same cost.

You can have these set to raise, lower, or a bit of both, the standard ones allow for lowering and are cheapest at £60, with custom ones around £82, shipping is £34 but as mentioned I could probably get 3 sets sent for the same money, and if anyone else wants to join me with some +0 to +15mm links they may knock a few quid off the "one-off" price.

I'm in Rasher. Order a set for me please and I'll arrange to meet soon.
I'm not very far from you anyways - A420 apart !

Thanks

I will get exact pricing first, unless your in a real hurry I was gonna wait a week or two to see if anymore takers come along.

I will get back to them about cost and shipping for two, and see if it will drop much further for 3 or 4, think I would like mine in time to play around at Easter.

Looking like £90 - £95 if buying two sets at current exchange rate - plus the risk the VAT man will collar it on the way in and add 20% - luck of the draw in my experience.

I can barely reach the ground as it is, let alone higher the bike up...Id need platforms then :D

Drop the forks 5-10mm, you'll get the same effect with quicker steering, it'll cost you zilch and it might help you touch the floor

I decked out the Demo bike on the second roundabout I came too, if you drop the forks 10mm you will be losing even more ground clearance.

I will probably order the links this weekend, so if anyone else wants a set let me know before Sunday morning.

........

I don't think you'll find that dropping the forks by the 4-5mm that you want in your OP will make any real world difference to ground clearance (and if it does ground clearance must be very mariginal on the S10 to say the least!)....... Just thought you might want to experiment and see what works before spending all that money :nenau

Depends how you ride, but it is a lot less than a stock GS! (or Maybe the improved front end feel allows a lot more lean)

Definately worth a try for anyone looking to get to the floor easier, or improve the steering, but they may well find the clearance is now an issue even if it was not before.

The other problem with dropping forks is you need to drop about 3mm at the front for the same turning effect as a 1mm rise at the back, so to make a noticable difference (to steering or reaching the floor) you probably need 10mm at the front, which is not gonna help ground clearance.

On the OE shock when two-up (about 20 stone combined weight) even with the pre-load maxed out I find the clearance restrictive to the sort of bend swinging I enjoy.

My stiffer sprung and better damped Wilburs helps greatly as it sits a bit higher at rest and compresses a lot less in the turns.

Monster boots are probably the best bet

Are you still in on this?

No other takers so will just be you and me sharing postage and discount, not sure on postage time but hoping for about a week.

Current exchange rate puts them at just over £90 if customs don't mug me, and just under £110 of they do

Ordered yesterday, machined up and sent out today :thumb

Just need some decent weather to test them now :blast
