Adjusting brake microswitch (front)

I've got an 1150 GSA with servo and had some warning lights come on the other day and found the microswitch on the handlebar brake lever to be on the bling. I've just fitted a new one but could not adjust the microswitch because it would not turn. I applied so much force that the slot started to open up a bit so I stopped trying! Now, because I could not adjust it the brake light is coming on well before the braking effect. Will this cause problems? The bike BTW is an june 05 model. The warning light/lights have cleared.

Any chance the switch is supposed to operate before the brakes come on, since it starts the servo pumping? I think that's how mine behaves, and has done since new.

I imagine it would be quite entertaining the other way round, you'd have a bit of residual braking followed by a sudden grab as the servo cut in (or a selection of warning lights?)

My 1150 GSA has a slightly quirky problem in that sometimes this switch will stay on. now if you turn the ignition off and on again, then go for a ride, it won't allow the servo to work (so no brakes).

It's cured by pushing the lever away from the bars slightly. So i'm guessing maybe it's a lazy spring in the brake lever mechanism??

I've just been on an all day ride for 200 hundred miles and it's all working fine so I was probably thinking it's more complicated than it is. I was just going on the advice from vines when I rang up regarding the adjusting srew and setting up which was backed up with the instructions from the workshop manual! I think I'll just leave it as ity is though.
