Bit of a quick one really.

I'm having fun with my headlight, as converting to HID's its now dazzling every bugger on the road, even though it's set as low as it can (my fat arse keeps the rear end down a bit more than usual), so just wondering.

I noticed when fitting the HID bulbs, there was a threaded shaft at the top of the reflector section, which has a little rubber bung on the back of the headlight covering it. Is it possible to use this to lower the beam further? Or is there any other way to actually lower the beam further?

Cheers

Lever is set right, I've lowered the beam so much, that flicking the little lever down does nothing. So regardless if it's up or down, beam won't budge.

You have not touched the one at the top right of the light set up which adjusts the beam left or right.
It might be worth trying that one so it points motre towards the kerb as opposed to the middle of the road.
Failing that when they flash you just flash back, it will show you are not on High beam

Just one other point, the bulb IS sitting right in the socket, my beam was high, tried to adjust it and like you got it to the stop and it would go no more, on closer inspection the bulb was not sitting right in the holder so sat it right quick adjustment and it was fine.

Just been fiddling with my lights again (failed ballast) and noticed this thread. I had a similar problem when I first fitted HID's. It usually happens because of the lamp connectors taking up space inside the headlamp unit because they are no longer fitted to the back of the bulb. As you refit everything they push the reflector forward popping the adjuster off the ball.

Have a look at this thread it may help.

If it has come off it can be a bugger to fix and is easier if you completely remove the headlamp unit.

Best of luck.

Check that the whole headlight unit has gone back in properly. You can accidentally fit it so that the mount underneath is just in front of the stud (mean it's tilted upwards). Do NOT (as I just did today) keep twiddling the adjuster knob further and further. It will pop off and it's a bugger because firstly its a pain to put back on and secondly, if you lose it, its £30 to get a new adjuster set. If you do want to pop it back on then there is a way. Pull out the sidelight bulb and with a hooked pick pull the reflector back so that the adjuster screw sticks out a bit. Reassemble the heavy load switch thingy and then tap on your adjuster nut again. Not easy. But I've had to do it twice now so I can do it in 5 mins flat. It took 2 hours last time.

Oh dear. The adjuster fell to bits again this morning at 50 mph on a dark road. Very dark when your headlight suddens points straight up. No sign of the parts so the nice chaps at NOG BMW are ordering me a new adjuster in. Glad I had fogs to drive on otherwise I would have been stuck until dawn. Also worth knowing how to isolate (turn off) your headlight in case you need to continue without glaring out every other driver!

Hopefully new parts will fix it.

Quick update (forgot)

Took the headlight unit out again, and decided to remove the little black plug bits from the end of the internal wiring (that goes on the back of the bulbs) and just tape the wiring together. So now the beam is much much better, and no longer getting flashed while riding :)

Didn't even have to destroy the black bits either, as the female spade connector just "un clipped" from inside them, so can easily put them back if need be!
