Adjusting rear brake pedal

Hi,

What's the easiest way to modify the standard arrangement to allow the rear foot to be adjusted when used with lowered foot pegs? I've seen pictures of a modified push rod ie.shorter and with more thread cut on it.

Have you tried adjusting the rod to it's shortest length and readjusting the stop screw and locknut?
 
Most of the lowered footrests i've fitted to customers bikes also have a rod to use for the rear brake.
