I have a GS without ASC, so got the dial at the back to adjust the spring/tension.

Never carried a pillion before, but going into London to pickup a mate. Shall be riding through London, no off-road type stuff. Do i need to adjust the rear suspension? We are not going on any serious distance, no more than 5 or 10 miles.

I assume you mean without ESA? I normally dial in 2 extra clicks when carrying a pillion, then take them off at the end of the journey. If you are only going a few miles I wouldn't bother, unless you passenger is, shall we say, heavily built.

sorry yes ESA, 2 clicks vs 10, quite a difference there. Won't be loaded up, have panniers on, but no major weight in them.

2 clicks clockwise sounds good, mate is about 14/15 stone

I can't say I do too much two up travelling...

...but I do a fair few heavily laden tours.

And with my panniers full and laden for a tour I would be clicking it to the maximum, and then three or four back....this seems to work for me....when I've had a pillion too it would be two clicks back.

I would say that my luggage would never add up to 15 stone!

It's worth remembering to dial the suspension back when he gets off......otherwise you may think that your legs have shrunk, and putting your feet down when stopping could become 'interesting'. :augie

pre load

for me i up it by 6 or 7 clicks with GF on the back, and if touring alone about four clicks.
