Hi,
Genius IT man here set up my new wifi adsl modem, and appears to have set a new password. Any way to harmlessly find the name and password?
I can't do a hard reset as I will lose the set-up connecting to the location internet.
Make any sense?
Bin

Do you need the password to connect to the wireless from another computer, or connect to the interweb.

If you're not in your middle east moo-moo land are you using Eircom at home?

Either way, you have to connect to the Wireless router with a network cable.
then you need know the IP address on it.
The Eircom ones seem to be 192.168.1.254 so just type http://192.168.1.254 into Internet Expolrer.
There is usually a "wireless" tab that'll have the long wireless password.

If you've got wireless connection but you lost the password to connect to the actual internet.. they're ususally something very simple. Try broadband1

is it the password to the router setup you've lost?

try Admin or Administrator and leave the password blank.

have you typed in something yourself?

more details needed.

If it's a modem, unfortunately Padge's solution won't work, since it applies only to routers.

If you have genuinely forgotten your ISP logon password or inadvertently changed it, it's probably best to get your ISP to re-set it rather than try all the combinations.
