Nearly bought a ADV beak from motoworks till the lady says it won't fit the 1100. So all those that have fitted one must have fitted a 1150 beak then i assume ? anyone advise please

The 1150 ADV beak is completely different in shape to the 1100 beak :thumb I assume you mean the plastic beak extender? It will go straight on a standard 1150 but not the 1100

better to remove the beak completely than add more plastic to it. The thing is little more than a style cue.. it has no real purpose... apart from aping the extended mudguard found on many off-road bikes. The old chesnut about it 'channeling air' into the the oil-cooler rad is pure nonsense. It doesn't.

I know this because for a year/18 months I ran my bike without its (damaged) beak.. and noticed absolutely no change whatsoever in the oil temperature throughout that time.

Its primary use is as a 'rest' for a tinny... or a cuppa. crucial for some Tossers I guess.

heres my bike when it was Black and beakless. (the nervous amongst you best look away)

Wrong.

I find it to be excellent at directing phesants into my spotlights... hasn't missed yet! In fact one day it deflected one left which took off my spot then on the way home about 5 hours latter it deflected another phesant to the right one! My sister did send me some deer whistles (from CAN) and this has done the trick.... so yeah... no need to use the beak anymore! :beerjug:

I got in touch with the chap with the sidecar outfit, he narrowed the Adv extension as well as shortening the beak to make it fit, it does look pretty good though, I might try that one myself.

How easy is it to remove beak and and extender from a 1150? I like the look of "motobiker"s without one and have wanted to dump it for a while. Anyone know what is needed to do it, does it look a bit tatty/unfinished in the flesh?

cheers

A german company 'zweckdesign' brought out the replacement part for the 1100.. which is very simple to fit... using all the original fixings. its simply a piece of moulded plastic that fits the empty space.

The 1150 beak is very different in its design.. as its both a 'beak' and its 'sidepanels' (compared to the 1100) in one piece.

I've never seen this kinda thing made for an 1150 (of any flavour) It's probably possible to make.. but would be expensive (i guess) and not very 'tidy'

The only alternative i can visualise is to take an 1150 beak unit.. possibly a damaged one. cut off the beak.. or rather cut it back as far as is possible. smooth it off and respray.

a lot of messing about.. but perhaps doable if you have the skills.

i quite like that beak mod, i had thought about using the new 800 beak but its too small
