Hi,

My ADV did not come with fog lights... (second hand)

Now I got them, but if any one would have some information about how it's done - it's especially the cables under the tank which I'm interested in.

Recommend purchasing a power fuse box with a relay. The power box is connected to your battery and a relay switch is connected to a wire that is hot only when the bike is on. My relay switch is connected to the little running lamp in the head light cluster.

So when you power down the bike the accessory lamps (and other accessories) will shut down too. It avoids the canbus system because it is connected direct to the battery and the switch is only connected to a secondary line that wont affect the canbus. You can connect other electrical items to it. I have aux lamps and heated gear connected to it with lots more room for other connections.

I used this one:

I had the dealer technicians install the relay and power box. It works great. I am sure you can find one similar closer to home. After installing this kit it will make any other electrical items easy to install yourself.

if you have the standard lights the bike will be pre wired for them you will need the switch but thats all, plug and play.

Do you ever go offroad Casper?

If you do, DON'T FIT THEM...sell them on and buy some that won't snap off at the weak plastic bracket stanchion when you hit the first rough patch ;)

We routinely remove them at the start of our off-road trips...I've even seen them snap off under their own weight if the bike is dropped rather than lowered:(

Good for on road though :thumb

+1. I remove mine before going off road. But the easiest way is to remove the light bar - only three torx screws, and a bit of duck tape to tie up the connectors.

hi i recently fitted adv lamps to my bike, wiring from lamps goes along font bar,
fuse holder clips to backet behind rh black plastic fairing
remove tank and gubbins
connector for switch and power are fairly obvious
relay provided fits behind all ecus, you have to take them all off, relay pushes into spare connector next to other already fitted grey relay between frame rails, hope this makes sense if not pm me and we can talk:thumb2

I've heard this before, and I think I'll have to come up with a quick way of removing them, but riding all year I especially like the option to have some additional light during the dark months.

Mostly on road, but found a nice area in the Ardennes where all the forest roads are accessible, and one have to have a bit of fun now and then;-)

Cheers.

Ahh, sounds almost easy (meaning I should be able to figure it out), thanks.
