With a measerly 29" inside leg measurement, does the wisdom of UK gser.com think I'd struggle handling a new Adventure ?

I understand they do a lowered seat for the 1200 GS, but the ride height of the Adventure could be a bit tricky.

Advice please

no problem for you!

I am 5'8" with the same inside leg. I find the seat not a problem at all. For commuting I use the BMW low seat @£160 from your local dealer, not much cheaper second hand on eBay! When touring I put the standard seat back on the 1200GSA. I rode with the standard seat for about 2 months before I bought the low version, when I put that on I felt like I was riding a toy AT FIRST IN COMPARISON. It should not be a problem, the more you use it the better you will feel.

For your info the low seat for the GS and the GSA (adventure) are the same, the seats between both models are swappable. Cheers

I agree! I used the low seat from the GS for awhile and then got the Touratech Kahedo extra low seat, no problems at all and I'm really glad I bought the Adventure last year.

I have a Touratech extra low seat .. AS NEW .. if you decide to buy the ADV and need a quality low seat.

BMW low seat is low but the shape is wrong.

I am shorter than 5'8" and I ride a 12ADV. The Touratech extra low is really good for in town riding when you need to put your feet down often.

shapes awful on the bmw low seat.gonna get mine reworked when i get the time.

Adventure height..

When I test rode my gs 1200 I had the normal seat in the low position.
When I ordered my gs12 (not adv) i ordered the low seat without riding on it). The seat was awful to the point that after an hour, I was on my way back to Rainbow and swapped it for the normal seat.
The low seat is 'hollowed out' and I felt myself sliding into an uncomfortable position thus holding my posture instead of relaxing on the seat.
With an inside leg of 29", I don't find it too tall but extra care is needed when putting your foot down.

Moral of the story.... don't go for any seat change till you've tried it!!!

I oredered a low-seat for my 12GSA - 29.5 inside leg - perfect - I had no long trip blues either it worked fine for me on 700 mile day trip - no problem touching down allbeit with only one foot - just got to hope there's no drainage grate where your foot touches down - you'll be fine

I understand BMW are offering a £90 option to give a factory fitted lowered suspension, may be worth asking your dealer.

That's what I have on my GS - not sure they offer it on a GSA though, also you cannot have this option and have ESA
The factory fit option - is different shocks, different main/centre stand and different side stand along with the low seat (which is free anyway)

Touratech Kahedo extra low seat

I bought the Touratech extra low seat too. I was a bit worried when I fitted it 'cos it is very firm but it really makes a difference and seems just as easy to live with long distance as the standard seat. It's a good option.

I was told that you also wear platform shoes....:augie
