I have decided to treat myself to an adventure screen for my 1200GS as the cold windblast is finally getting me down.

I have got my satnav mounted on a Motorrad Concepts mounting bracket and am very happy with it. Does anyone know whether I will be able to use the same bracket with my new adventure screen or am I going to have to get a new bracket to go with my new screen?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Dave

I am fairly sure it won't fit because of the cross bar on the ADV screen. However several companies do a mount to fit the sat nav to the adv screen bar

Get the BMW mount, its only a few quid, and clamps to the adventure crossbar. Nice clean installation and cheaper than other methods.

Hi Dave.

This might sound cheeky, especially as its my first post, but I'll ask anyway:thumb

If you feel like you might want to sell your motorrad concepts mount, I would buy it. Typical for me, I missed the boat and now that motorrad concept's are producing anymore, I can't get one. It's such a great design, much better than any other mounting option I have seen before. It's more difficult finding a tidy mounting option if you don't have the crossbar from the adventurer screen:blast

I have now got the adventure screen installed (wow what an improvement) and the Motorrad Concepts mount very very nearly works. The GPS is very slightly obscuring the clocks.

If I can live with it I'm going to keep it. As you say it is an excellent mount. So I will let you know in a couple of weeks and PM you if its for sale.

I have bought the rights and now I am now making the R1200GS GPS mounts as previously sold by MC.
They are finished and ready to sell.
All I need to do is add them to my webstore, I think I'll find the time to do that Friday.
Cheers,
Michel

Adventure screen on a 1200GS

"How much are the parts that you need for the adv screen conversion?" I paid just about 400€(around £290) for ALL the bits including winglets etc; there has been a lot written on this subject -but the beauty of it is that it is a straightforward job - and it is still BMW parts and it looks good; (yes, I also have the Motorrad concepts mount for the GPS and it is in an ideal position. )

Price of Adventure Screen Conversion

I paid £330 and £32 for fitting. Examining the job afterwards I think I could have fitted it myself in an hour or so. I'm always scared of drilling plastics though.

I was abit worried that I might be disappointed given the cost but I can honestly say it is an awesome improvement and has really made the bike a much more comfortable long distance machine.

Can anyone comment from personal experience as to how the adv screen compares to say a Nippy Normans high and wide.

".....Examining the job afterwards I think I could have fitted it myself in an hour or so. I'm always scared of drilling plastics though...." The drilling of plastics is easy if you cover the bit to be drilled with masking tape and then mark it out exactly as your template. (I made up a template from a photo I took of a GSA in the dealers .) My real problem was dropping screws or washers - which are all special - and losing them somewhere down by the engine. One way to prevent this is to 'tack' them in place with masking tape before you screw them up. ( Or a rather brilliant idea I have not tried-if you have a glue gun. Tack a bit of thread to them.) Yes, I know it sounds corny but if you watch the BMW mechanics at the dealers they have plenty of spare bits & don't bother scrabbling about on hands and knees to find a 6mm S/S locknut or washer!)
