I know the merits of different screens have been discussed at length on here but can anyone tell me, is it a straightforward replacement to put the Adventure screen and brace on a standard GS?

I have had an MRA vario screen on for some time and which is good at stopping the buffeting on my helmet (I'm 6'2") but very much leaves my arms and shoulders out in the wind and the Adventure screen and winglets looks like a better overall solution.

Adventure screen is a straight fit onto the std GS.

Previous owner of my bike had bought the screen but never fitted it before he traded the the bike into a BMW dealer. Having bought the bike a side deal with the ex-owner acquired the screen and all the bits he had stripped off the bike before selling i.e. beak, carbon end can, and tank bag for less than the price of the screen alone.

Don't think I would have gone the full price route as there are plenty of other aftermarket screens out there for less than BMW want for the Adventure version. Do find the Adventure screen better than the standard one.

I paid the full £300 a couple of years ago and don't regret it. I tried the NN high screen but I didn't like it. More opinions on here than you can shake a stick at if you search...

Hi There, I fitted an adventure screen to my 08 GS. It takes 5 minutes.
I had a wonderlich ergo screen on for a week which I found a bit high. I'm 5ft 9 ish. The winglets fit easily on too. GS from 08 even have the holes ready drilled! All you need to do is drill the plastic from underneath with a screwdriver type drill. I bought the screen etc on this site.
Just put up a post on items wanted and you should get replies.
I find the adventure screen and winglets a big improvement. As someone else said earlier, you will find loads of info on here about screens.:)

+1 for ADV screen. I bought mine, including winglets, about a month after the Adventure hit the market. Expensive but worth every penny. Especially when the upper support also provides a perfect satnav mount with the addition of a BMW bracket for £30.00 (yes BMW do have some bits that cost less than £100!!).

Despite what I have read elsewhere, fitting the winglets to an early GS that does not have the metal support under the beak does not damage the beak. Mine were there for three years and 30,000 before I bought a GSA. I just went to a dealer and measured the positions of the holes on a display GSA.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will try and source one on here or even go the full price option if they seem that good. Must admit hadn't seen anything about a possible issue of fixing the winglets to the beak but I'll bear that advice in mind.
Cheers all!

Hi Paul,
I fitted an adventure screen to my standard GS and the result is a vast improvement.
I had the winglets fitted when I bought the bike new last September.
I paid £80 for a mint secondhand screen but made my own support bracket which works perfectly and was a sight cheaper than the £140 BMW wanted.
Total cost £83.Thats for the screen and bracket:thumb
I see you are in hull,I'm in Beverley so if you wanted a look at what I did your more than welcome.
