Adventure screen

Couldn't get on with the standard BMW screen on my R1200GS so got a high and wide from Nippy Normans found that not much better. Just got a Adventure screen off E bay its the business works like magic had a good blast down the M18 not a bit of turbulence.

I'm 6' 2" tall but have short legs and I am talking about the 1200gs.
Just got back from another blast tonight. Top screen makes life a dream

I did the same on my new 1200gs and agree. have you also fitted winglets - I found they made a big difference ? - The adventure screen ( unlike the standard) is designed to work with them. What type of helmet are you using and whats the noise like - Iv'e got rid of turbulence but still have more noise than I would like through the visor....

I'm about 6' 1" / 6' 2" and I find the standard screen on the GS a little to low for me. I'm going to have to look into getting a slightly taller screen.

Anyone know how much a genuine Adventure screen is from BMW?

Did you also fit the support bar as on the adventure or just keep the standard GS fittings?

The new adventure screen with all the fittings etc from Balderstons will set you back £320 plus delivery. I got mine off ebay and its like brand new. for £220.
I have fitted winglets and use a Nolan n43 open face with a full visor. The support bar came with the screen and I just used the existing fittings from the standard screen they all seemed to fit perfectly. noise is acceptable. I rode a Harley for years before getting this so I'm stone deaf anyway. I'm glad I made the change
If anyone wants to try my redundant nippy normans wide and high screen let me know.

I am about tobuy a helmet - do you reccoeemend the Nolan . why did you go for it - was it the visibilty / open feel ? I am torn between an open face and going the full face shoe1100 route. does it make any diffeence to your noise level if you bend forward a couple of inches ?

Just fitted the Smoke Adventure screen to my 1200 SE... what a difference

5'9" tall and the buffeting is gone

Waiting for a pair of smoke winglets - should arrive tomorrow to complete it

I presume your talking of the Nippy Norman ones are you, last time i asked BuMW they still didnt do tinted winglets.

NN ones... you're correct that BMW only do plain ones....

I got a pair of light tint ones a few weeks ago, but now I've got the dark tint screen they were the wrong shade... so sold them and ordered the darker ones...

They seem to be well made and fit nicely

I went for the Nolan open face having tried one of my mates the full visor works really well and it also has a nice extra tinted visor that you can flip down. you get good all round vision and a comfy fit. their own Com's system is a bit pricey but good.

I too have the GSA screen on my GS, along with the winglets. Big difference to original screen. Only down side (and it isn't really a downside) is I have to stand up slightly to clear visor in heavy rain

Did the NN ones clear the screen, my BMW man said they didn't and touched/interfered when they tried them ?

I was told they didnt fit the GSA correctly, be interesting to know if they fit your GS SE ok, Bahnstormers had a set fitted to a GSA in their showroom and they were far from complimentary about the fit.

They fitted fine

I have fitted the NN dark tint and confirm they don't foul the screen. Top tip I read on here some where is to mark the drill holes by burning through from underneath with a soldering iron.

BTW I bought a shoe xr1100 which seemed to fit me better than the nolan. much improved wind noise ( but so far only tested ona blustery day so i think better is to come.)
It's been a bit of a long road to get the turbulence /noise sorted out on my brand new bike with new adventure screen. winglets, trying and returning sargent low seat and finally new helmet but i think i am just about there. I don't get how people could ride across countries on these bikes and endure the wind/ buffeting - suprised BMW don't get it right in the original build.
